No. 24 GSW Tied for 2nd After First Day of Bearcat Golf Classic

GREENWOOD, S.C. - The 24th-ranked Georgia Southwestern men's golf team shot a two-round 596, +20, on Monday at the Bearcat Golf Classic to finish tied for second place out of 18 teams at the par 72, 6,800-yard Greenwood Country Club.

J.P. Griffin and Andrew Ritchot led GSW as the duo finished the first two rounds with identical scores of 148, 4-over par, to tie for seventh in the overall individual standings.

Another pair of Hurricanes finished with identical scores as Nate Gahman and Matthew Whitaker both shot rounds of 75 to finish with a 2-round score of 150, 6-over par, to tie for 16th in the overall standings.

The Hurricanes sit tied with Mount Olive College as the two schools currently trail tournament leader Belmont Abbey College (582, +6) by 14 strokes.

No. 14 Belmont Abbey's Adam Hedges leads the individual side finishing with a 9-under par 135 after two rounds of play.

GSW returns to the links Tuesday for the third and final round of the Bearcat Golf Classic.
