HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. - The 22nd-ranked Georgia Southwestern golf team jumped five spots up to 12th place at the 20-team NCAA Division II South/Southeast Regional after Day 2 of the three-day, three-round event. All-Peach Belt Conference First Team honoree Nate Gahman led the Hurricanes with a 1-under par 71 on Tuesday.

Gahman was one of only five golfers in the 108-player field to finish with a round under par on the second day of the event at the par-72, 6,928-yard El Campeon golf course at Mission Inn Resort & Club. Gahman moved up 34 slots on the individual leaderboard and finished the day tied for 18th with a 3-over 141.

GSW trails leader No. 1 Nova Southeastern by 36 strokes, but the top seven teams in the regional qualify for the NCAA Championships, May 20–24 in Hershey, Pa. No. 9 Columbus State and No. 16 West Florida are tied for sixth after Day 2 at 20-over par, 11 strokes ahead of the Hurricanes.

Matthew Whittaker and Andrew Ritchot are tied for 57th overall for GSW with scores of 9-over 153. Ritchot has played the par 5 holes well, ranking seventh in the field with a combined 3-under. Ritchot's 2-over score on Tuesday was second-lowest on the team.

All-PBC First Team selection J.P. Griffin is tied for 65th after carding a 76 in Round 2. Griffin has played the par 4 holes well, ranking eighth overall at 2-over. Anders Olsson has a two-round total of 171.

Ricardo Celia and teammate Ben Taylor from Nova Southeastern are tied for the individual lead with a 3-under 141.

GSW returns for the final round of regional play on Wednesday with tee times starting at noon.
