Donaldson Named GSW Men's Golf Coach

AMERICUS, Ga. - Georgia Southwestern University's athletic director, Jaclyn Donovan, has announced the hiring of Darcy Donaldson as the GSW head men's golf coach. Donaldson replaces Andrew Danna who left GSW for the head coaching position at Lynn University.

Donaldson comes to Americus from West Virginia where he served as an assitant coach and recruiting coordinator for Concord University's men's and women's golf teams for the past four seasons.

While at Concord he was instrumental in building the men's golf program into a regional power as both a player and a coach.

During his four-year assistant coaching stint with the Mountain Lions, he helped lead the program to appearances in four straight NCAA Division II national championship tournaments.

"I am extremely excited for the opportunity to be the head men's golf coach at Georgia Southwestern," said Donaldson. "I'm looking forward to maintaining and building on the strong tradition of Hurricane men's golf."

Originally from Marathon, Ontario, Donaldson was one of the most decorated players in Concord's history.  During his playing career with the Mountain Lions, Donaldson helped Concord to back-to-back WVIAC championships in 2004 and 2005 and was named an All-American in 2006.

Individually, Donaldson was named the WVIAC freshmen of the year in 2004, the player of the year in 2006 and was a three-time first team All-WVIAC selection.

A 2009 graduate of Concordia University, Donaldson earned a Bachelors degree in Interdisciplinary Studies.
