Valdosta, Ga. – Georgia Southwestern’s golf team competed in the Southeastern Collegiate Tournament on Monday and Tuesday earlier this week. The course was 7,113 yards and par is set at 72. The Hurricanes tied for 17^th out of 18 teams. During the third round the Hurricanes shot 16 under their first round score.

Nicholas Ward and Anders Olsson were consistently the leaders for GSW with the lowest score in each round. Olsson shot 74, 76, and 75. With a score of 225, Olsson tied for 42^nd place with Columbus State’s Stumpfig. Ward shot 79, 74, and 73. Fraser Johnston had the largest improvement on the team from the first to third round. Johnston shot a high 82, 81, then 73; dropping nine strokes.

Barry College was the clear winner of the tournament shooting -3 for the tournament. Lynn University was the next team, six strokes off from the leaders. The Hurricanes finished six strokes behind the team in 16^th. The Hurricanes undershot Eckerd College by ten strokes in the third round. Clayton State was the closest Peach Belt Conference team just 15 strokes under, CSU third round was 12 strokes over the ‘Canes.

The Hurricanes return to the links on Monday for the Bobcat Invitational hosted by Georgia College at the Golf Blub at Cuscowilla in Eatonton, Ga.
