A Trio Of Canes Shoot Under Par; GSW 9th After Day 1 At Saint Leo Invite

DADE CITY, Fla. - The Georgia Southwestern men's golf team had three players finish Monday's opening round under par at the 17-team Saint Leo Invitational. Anders Olsson, Nicholas Ward and Hayes Dupree each shot a 1-under 71 on the 7,137-yard Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club to lead the Hurricanes to 9th place in the team standings heading into Tuesday's final round.

The trio from GSW is tied for 26th overall in the 98-player field. Teammate Chris Low sits tied for 48th with a 1-over 73 and Fraser Johnston shot a 75. 

The Hurricanes will enter the final round 13 strokes behind 10th-ranked North Alabama with No. 5 Lynn a stroke behind the leader. A dozen of the current Top 25 teams in NCAA Division II are playing this tournament, including No. 1 Barry and No. 3 Nova Southeastern.

Brandon Robinson-Thompson from 7th-ranked USC Aiken fired an 8-under 64 for the low round of the day.

GSW wraps up play at the Saint Leo Invite on Tuesday with the final round beginning at 8:30 a.m.
