Hurricanes and Johnston Both Tied For 3rd After Day 1 at The Rock Barn Collegiate Invitational

CONOVER, N.C. - The Georgia Southwestern men's golf team finished day 1 at the Rock Barn Collegiate Invitational with a team score of 301 on the 72-par, 6960-yard course. The men are currently tied for 3rd out of 21 teams.

Fraser Johnston, tied for 3rd, and Nicholas Ward, tied for 7th, lead GSW in the first round. Johnston shot an even 72 and Ward shot 2-over par with a 74. Chris Low is tied for 33rd shooting 5-over par with a score of 77, Anders Olsson shot a 78 and is tied for 51st and Hayes Dupree shot an 80 and is tied for 67th.

"It's great to see the course where the national championships will be played in May," Coach Darcy Donaldson commented, "It is a great course and very challenging. The guys handled it pretty well today and we are in a good position heading into tomorrow."
