Golf Program Earns National All-Academic Distinction

AMERICUS - The Georgia Southwestern men's golf team has earned All-Academic distinction from the Golf Coaches Association of America for the 2014-15 school year. It's the second consecutive year GSW has earned the national honor.

To be eligible for the GCAA All-Academic Team a college or university must submit the GPAs for each player on its official squad list for the academic year.

A total of 169 teams, covering NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA, submitted GPAs of 3.00 or higher to earn All-Academic Team recognition. The Hurricanes were one of only 27 programs in NCAA Division II, and one of two from the Peach Belt Conference, to earn the honor. GSW posted a 3.489 team GPA, only 0.011 from being one of two schools in Division II to earn President's Special Recognition for finishing with a GPA of 3.5 or higher.

Embry-Riddle Arizona posted the highest overall team GPA for all divisions with a 3.75.
