CALERA, Ala.- The Georgia Southwestern men's golf team shot 4-over par on Tuesday to take the victory at the Full Moon BBQ Invitational hosted by the University of Montevallo at the Timberline Golf Club. GSW won by ten strokes over West Georgia.

"It feels great to start the year off with a win," said head coach Darcy Donaldson. "It's nice to finally get a victory after being a runner-up last year four times. I have a lot of confidence in these guys and am looking forward to see what else they can do this year."

Ethan Chamineak earned All-Tournament honors after firing a 2-under par 68 in the final round on the par-70, 6651 yard course. Chamineak moved up four spots and finish tied for second individually only being one shot behind the leader, Barrett Waters from West Gerogia.

Hayes Dupree shot two-over par for the tournament and finished tied for ninth. Nicholas Ward carded a two-round tournament score of 143 to tie for 11th. Tyler Barker shot a tournament low 71 to tie for 13th and Anders Olsson was one shot behind Barker to tie for 16th. 

Fraser Johnston finished tied for16th as an individual for GSW after shooting a 72 and 73.

The Canes also broke the GSW 36-hole team record by seven strokes. The old record of 271 was set in 2013 at the Spring Kick-Off Intercollegiate tournament. The men shot a 280 and 284 to make the new record 564.

GSW is back on the links next week for the AFLAC/Cougar Invitational hosted by Columbus State. Rounds 1 and 2 will be played on Monday and they will play the final round Tuesday.
