ORLANDO, Fla. - The 15th-ranked Georgia Southwestern men's golf team tied for fifth place at the two-day McDonough Cup at Rio Pinar Country Club hosted by Rollins College.
GSW shot a 7-under 857 (279, 289, 289) in the three-round, Par 72, 6955 yard tournament to finish tied with No. 1 Ranked St. Leo out of the 22-team field.
The Hurricanes were one shot ahead of the defending NCAA DII National Champions Nova Southeastern who posted a 858.
Lynn University posted a 28-under 836 to take the win.
Hayes Dupree shot a 67 in Round 1 to lead the Hurricanes posting a 5-under three-round score of 211. Dupree finished tied for seventh out of 122 golfers, his highest finish so far this season.
Ethan Chamineak was one stroke from Dupree, posting a 4-under 212 (70, 72, 70) to finish tied for 12th. Nicholas Ward shot a tournament low 70 in Round 2 and a 72 in Round 3 to finish 1-under and tie for 22nd.
Tyler Barker finished tied for 46th posting a 219 (69, 75, 75) and Anders Olsson posted a 236 to tie for 118th.
Emil Sorebo from Rollins College and Mateo Gomez from Lynn both shot a ten-under 206 to tie for first.
GSW resumes competition February 22 when it kicks off the spring season at the Newberry College Invitational in Kiawah Island, S.C.
