KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C.- Freshman Tyler Barker posted a tournament-low 69 in Round 3 at the Newberry College Invitational to claim the individual victory and help lead the 18th-ranked Georgia Southwestern men's golf team to a 1st place finish of 13 teams on Tuesday. 

GSW kept their first place position from Monday's rounds after posting a 294 in Round 3 and an 883 overall team score to finish 13 strokes ahead of the 13-team field on the 72-par, 6682-yard historic Ocean Course at Kiawah Island.

North Greenville finished second with a three-round 896 and host Newberry College sat 15 strokes behind the Hurricanes to place third.

Barker moved up five spots from the previous day and posted a 3-round 216 to finish first out of the 67-player field and claim his first collegiate win. Barker's win is GSW's first individual win since 2012 and the first freshman win in GSW history.

Ethan Chamineak was one stroke behind Barker posting a 217 after three rounds to finish second overall.

Nicholas Ward moved up nine spots after shooting his low round of the tournament, 72, on Tuesday to finish tied for eighth with a 223 three-round score.

Anders Olsson finished tied for 25th posting a 229, Hayes Dupree, who played as an individual, was one stroke behind Olsson with a 230 finishing tied for 28th and Fraser Johnston moved up six spots from Monday to finish tied for 34th after shooting 77-79-77.

The Hurricanes are back on the links next week for the South/Southeast Region Preview hosted by St. Leo University at at El Campeon in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. on Monday and Tuesday.
