Golf Ranked 13th In Bushnell Golfweek Division II Coaches Poll

AMERICUS, Ga.- The Georgia Southwestern golf team moved up three spots and has been ranked 13th in the recent Bushnell Golfweek Division II Coaches Poll which came out Friday.

GSW will compete in the First Federal Southeastern Collegiate Sunday, Monday and Tuesday at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club in Valdosta, Ga.

The 18-team field consists of 11 Top-25 NCAA DII teams, six of which are in the Top-10 including No. 1 Saint Leo, No. 3 Nova Southeastern, No. 4 West Florida, No. 5 Lynn, No. 6 Florida Southern and No. 7 Barry. 

GSW is among the remaining five top ranked teams along with No. 11 Flagler, No. 12 Lee, No. 16 North Alabama and No. 21 Florida Tech.

Columbus State, Valdosta State, Georgia College, Delta State, Armstrong State, Lander and Rollins make up the rest of the field.

Last year the Hurricanes were one of 10 teams ranked in the Top-25 and finished 13th of 18 with a 3-round score of 901 (300, 299, 302).

Nicholas Ward led GSW getting four birdies and three bogeys in Round 3 to score a tournament low 71 and tie for 14th out of 90 individuals. Ward finished two-over par shooting a three-round total of 219 (74, 74, 71).

Chris Low tied for 30th with a total score of 224 (76, 75, 73), Hayes Dupree tied for 48th with a 228 (76, 72, 80), Anders Olsson posted a 232 (74, 78, 80) to finish tied for 62nd and
Fraser Johnston finished tied for 68th with a 233 (76, 79, 78).

The 2016 First Federal Southeastern Collegiate will feature 18 holes of play each day beginning at 8:21 a.m. The tournament can be followed HERE.
