Barker co-Freshman Of The Year; Chamineak And Ward All-Conference

AMERICUS, Ga.- Georgia Southwestern freshman Tyler Barker was named Peach Belt Conference co-Freshman of the year and juniors Ethan Chamineak and Nicholas Ward were both named to the 16-member PBC men's golf All-Conference team Thursday evening at the a banquet in St. Augustine, Fla., site of the 2016 PBC golf championships.

The top eight players were named first-team with the second eight on the second team. Chamineak was name first team and Ward was selected as second team. 

The tie for Freshman of the Year between Barker and USC Aiken's August Lindvall is only the second in PBC history, the first came in 2013.

Chamineak, a Thomson, Ga. native, is ranked 27th in the NCAA DII Golfstat rankings and is second in the PBC in stroke average at 72.42. Chamineak fired a season low 68 in Round 2 at the Full Moon BBQ invitational in September where he finished tied for second with a two-round, three-under par 137. Chamineak has played all nine events and has seven Top-20 finishes this season including four Top-10. Chamineak recently won the Hurricane Invitational with a three-round, one-under par 215.

Ward, an Eastbourne, England native, posted his lowest round of 68 in the final round at the North Georgia Fall Invitational in October where he finished tied for ninth with a thee-round, five-under par 211. Ward has played in all nine events this season and has five Top-25 finishes including three Top-10.

Barker, an Evans, Ga. native, posted his lowest round of 69 in the final round at the Newberry College Invitational in February where he captured his first collegiate win with a three-round 216. Barker has played in all nine events this season and has three Top-20 finishes.
