HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla.- Ethan Chamineak posted a three-under par 69 in Round 1 at the 2016 NCAA Division II Men's Golf South/Southeast Regional Championships at Mission Inn Resort to lead the nationally ranked Georgia Southwestern men's golf team on Monday.

The No. 19 Hurricanes posted an opening round score of 292 on the Par 72, 6928 yard course to sit tied for fifth out of 20 teams. GSW is 12 shots behind the tournament leaders No. 3 West Florida who posted an eight-under 280.

Chamineak started out Round 1 with a birdie and shot four more to sit tied for fifth out of the 108 player-field and is four shots away from the tournament leaders. Anders Olsson sits tied for 11th with a one-under par 71 with three birdies.

Nicholas Ward is tied for 38th with a 75, Hayes Dupree shot a 77 to sit tied for 61st and Fraser Johnston posted an 85 and sits tied for 103rd.

The top five teams and the top two student-athletes not with a team from each regional (regardless of region) will advance to the finals May 17-21, at Green Valley Ranch in Denver, Colorado.

The Hurricanes will tee off on Hole 1 for Round 2 on Tuesday starting at 12:50 p.m. with Johnston followed by Olsson at 1 p.m. then Dupree at 1:10 p.m., Ward at 1:20 p.m. and Chamineak at 1:30 p.m.
