Chamineak Named Peach Belt Golfer Of The Week

AMERICUS, Ga.-Ethan Chamineak has captured his third Peach Belt Conference Golfer of the Week honor as announced by the league office on Thursday.

For the first time in Georgia Southwestern program history a golfer has been named PBC golfer of the week for a third time in a season. This marks the programs 12th golfer of the week since becoming members of the NCAA DII, the first GOTW dating back to 2008.

Chamineak fired a three-round 218 (73, 72, 73) at the Southeastern Collegiate hosted by Valdosta State this past week to place fourth of 93 golfers.

He was three strokes behind the third-place finisher and was the lowest PBC finisher with six conference teams in the field. 14 of the 18 teams in the field are ranked in the latest Bushnell Top 25 and his efforts helped the Hurricanes to a 10th-place finish. Chamineak is fifth in the PBC with a 72.44 stroke average.

The Thomas, Ga, native was named PBC golfer of the back on Sept. 22, after finishing second at the Jay Jennison Cup with a seven-under, three-round 209 (73, 70, 66). He was then again awarded the honor on Nov. 4, after placing tied for second at the McDonough Cup with a five-under, three-round 211 (72-70-69).

The Hurricanes are back on the links Monday and Tuesday for the Bobcat Invitational hosted by Georgia College at the Cuscowilla Golf Club in Eatonton, Ga.
