GSW Set To Host Second Annual Hurricane Invitational

AMERICUS, Ga. - The Georgia Southwestern men's golf team is set to host the second annual Hurricane Invitational April 3-4 at Doublegate Country Club in Albany, Ga.

A field of eight teams will participate in the 54-hole tournament. Teams will play 36 holes on Monday and finish with 18 holes Tuesday on the par 72, 7,024-yard course.

Joining GSW on the links will be North Georgia, Emmanuel, West Alabama, Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, Albany State, Brewton-Parker and Bob Jones University.

Last year the Hurricanes finished second of nine teams with a three-round 901. North Georgia took the win with an 895 overall score.

Ethan Chamineak posted a 1-under par, 215 to place first of 49 golfers. Nicholas Ward posted a tournament low 74 in Round 3 to finish tied for ninth with a three-round 226. Hayes Dupree finished two strokes behind Ward posting a tournament low 73 in Round 3 to finish 14th overall. Fraser Johnston and Tyler Barker, who played as an individual, both tied for 16th with a 232 and Anders Olsson tied for 23rd with a 236.

This year the Hurricanes look to take the title. Chamineak, Ward, Johnston, Barker, Vincent Norrman, Alex Wells and Nix Duncan will all be participating.
