McLain Named PBC Golfer of the Week

AMERICUS, Ga. -- Georgia Southwestern State University junior Chase McLain was named a Peach Belt Conference Co-Golfer of the Week by the league office on Thursday afternoon. McLain finished in a tie for third place at the University of North Georgia Fall Invitational that concluded on Tuesday. McLain's three-round score of 8-under-par (208) matched fellow PBC Golfers of the Week and UNG Fall Invitational participants Jordan Doull and Ronan Kleu from Columbus State University.

The Top 5 finish was McLain's first in his career and his third Top 10 result. A native of Leesburg, Ga., McLain fired rounds of 74-64-71 to earn his first PBC Golfer of the Week award. His 64 in Round 2 ties a school record set twice by Vincent Norrman, is the lowest single round in the PBC so far this season and is tied for the fifth-lowest in PBC history. McLain birdied holes 7-9 in Round 2 to ignite a run where he birdied six of his final nine holes after starting the day on the 16th tee. He also set personal bests for 36- and 54-hole scoring. McLain is currently fifth in the PBC in stroke average (70.7).
