Norrman Among Collegiate Elite at Arnold Palmer Cup

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Former Georgia Southwestern State University golfer Vincent Norrman is representing the International team in the Arnold Palmer Cup, Monday through Wednesday, at Bay Hill Club & Lodge. The Ryder Cup-style event features the top men's and women's college golfers matching the United States against their International counterparts.
 
Norrman, currently No. 23 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR), was a three-time All-America selection for the Hurricanes. 

A native of Stockholm, Sweden, Norrman paired with fellow Swede, Arizona State University's Linn Grant in Monday's mixed four-ball competition. The duo tied the U.S. team of Julia Johnson from the University of Mississippi and Garett Reband from the University of Oklahoma. Reband is ranked 13th in the WAGR.

Day 2 of the event will see 36 holes played by the participants. Norrman will join Sweden's Ludvig Aberg (No. 19 WAGR) from Texas Tech University at 8:15 a.m. to face the team of Pierceson Coody (No. 9 WAGR) from the University of Texas & Reband in alternate shot. Day 2 concludes with afternoon rounds of mixed foursomes. Norrman will pair with Grant once again. This time the duo takes on the team of Rachel Kuehn from Wake Forest University & John Pak (No. 7 WAGR) from Florida State University. Tee time is 1 p.m.

The final day of competition will features singles play. Tee times will be announced on Tuesday. Team International took a 9-3 lead after Day 1.

Originally scheduled to be played July 3-5 at Lahinch Golf Club in Lahinch, Ireland, the event was moved to December to Mr. Palmer's winter home, the Bay Hill Club & Lodge. The inaugural Arnold Palmer Cup was staged there in 1997 and Bay Hill is the first venue to host the event twice.
