COLUMBUS, Ga. — The No. 5 Georgia Southwestern men's golf team posted a 25-over-par in the Cougar Invitational at Columbus State University on Tuesday to place fifth out of 13 teams.

Jack Tharrington led the way for GSW with a Top 10 finish. Tharrington moved up three spots on the day with a Round 3 score of 71 and tied for ninth with another GSW golfer Simon Estrada who was playing as an individual.

Chase McLain carded a 63 on Tuesday and broke the school record for lowest score in a round in program history. McLain finished strong as he birdied five straight of his last seven holes and ended the tournament tied for 12th place. Alex Wells finished two strokes behind Mclain for a tie in 20th while Jairak and Escobar finished in 43rd and 56th respectively. Payne Sells who was also playing as an independent finished 28th overall. 

The field had seven top 25 ranked teams in it and five in the top 15 with No. 7 Lee University taking the overall team title and the individual, with Lee University golfers, Oliver Lewis-Perkins and Beck Burnette tying for the individual win at 6-under par.

The Hurricane's next tournament will be played in Dearborn Michigan at the Motor City Invitational hosted by Wayne State University on Oct. 10th and 11th.
