DEARBORN, Mich. -- The seventh-ranked Georgia Southwestern men's golf team posted an even-par 288 on Sunday in the opening round of the Motor City Invitational hosted by Wayne State University to sit in a tie for fourth place out of 15 teams. The 36-hole event is being played at TPC of Michigan (Par 72, 7,056 Yards) and offers teams a chance to play at the site of the 2022 NCAA National Championships hosted by WSU and the Detroit Sports Commission.

Saksit Jairak, playing as an individual, had the Hurricanes low score of the day with a 4-under 68. Jairak posted five birdies and one bogey on Sunday.

Simon Estrada carded a 68 for GSW and tied for seventh place. Payne Sells was a stroke back of Estrada while Jack Tharrington shot a 73. Chase McLain and Alex Wells both finished with rounds of 74. 

Colorado State University Pueblo (282) closed the day atop the team standings with a six stroke lead over the Hurricanes. Andrew Ni from CSU Pueblo fired a 7-under 65 for the low score of the day among the field of 84 golfers.
