INNISBROOK, Fla. — Georgia Southwestern State University men's golfer Saksit Jairak climbed 21 spots in the final round of the Copperhead Championship hosted by the University of West Florida after shooting an even-par 71 on Tuesday morning at the Innisbrook Resort on the Copperhead Course (Par 71, 7,209 Yards). Jairak finished tied for 42nd out of 90 participants. The Hurricanes remained in eighth place out of 17 teams after combining for a 10-over 294 in the final round. The 54-hole event featured 11 teams in the Top 25 of the Golfstat computer rankings, with six of the Top 10 teams in the country participating.

Jairak played the Par 3 holes at 2-under (15 total holes) for the tournament to lead the field. He was 1-under through the five Par 3s on Tuesday.    

Payne Sells led the Hurricanes overall with a 7-over 220. He posted a 75 on Tuesday and finished tied for 19th place.

Simon Estrada finished a stroke behind Sells and tied for 26th place. Alex Wells tied for 38th with an 11-over 224. Chase McLain tied for 55th despite playing the Par 5 holes at 4-under-par through the event which tied for fourth lowest.

Lander University jumped over Day 1 leader Saint Leo University to claim the team title with a 16-over 868. Luke Harries from Lincoln Memorial University finished at 3-under for tournament after firing the low round of the day with a 69. 

The Hurricanes return to the links on Monday for the Southern Tide Intercollegiate at Atlanta National Golf Club in Milton, Ga.
