MILTON, Ga. — The 11th-ranked Georgia Southwestern men's golf team posted a two-round score of 18-over 594 on Monday at the Southern Tide Intercollegiate hosted by Limestone University to finish the day in 16th place out of 20 teams. The 54-hole event is being played at the Atlanta National Golf Club (Par 72, 6,966 Yards) and features 14 teams ranked in the top 25 of NCAA Division II according to the latest Golfstat computer rankings, including nine of the top 10 teams in the country.

Chase McLain had the Hurricanes low score of the day with a 1-under 143, having four birdies in each of the first two rounds. McLain will enter Tuesday's final round tied for 19th out of 100 golfers.

Simon Estrada finished second on the team with a 3-over 147, tied for 37th place overall. Estrada climbed seven places in the standings over the late round on Monday. Payne Sells was third for the Hurricanes with rounds of 73 and 77, while Alex Wells made the biggest jump of the day when he jumped 10 spots with his 75 in Round 2 to finish tied for 77th. Jack Tharrington posted a two-round score of 159.  

No. 6 Carson-Newman University closed the day atop the team standings with a four-stroke lead over fellow Peach Belt member, third-ranked University of South Carolina Aiken. Jonathan Nielsen from Carson-Newman shot a blistering 12-under-par to lead the individual standings, good for a four-stroke cushion.

The Hurricanes tee off in the final round starting at 9:20 a.m. on Tuesday.
