EATONTON, Ga. — The ninth-ranked Georgia Southwestern men's golf team posted a two-round total of 570 to finish in fifth place on Monday at the Bobcat Invitational hosted by Georgia College. As a team, the Hurricanes finished 10-over on the day. The 15-team tournament played at Cuscowilla on Lake Oconee in Eatonton, Ga. features ten programs that are in the nation's top-25, as joining No. 1 Barry are No. 2 USC Aiken, No. 4 Lincoln Memorial University, No. 7 University of North Georgia, No. 12 University of West Florida, No. 13 Lander University, No. 15 Columbus State University and No. 16 Florida Southern College and No. 17 Saint Leo University.

Chase McClain led the Hurricanes with rounds of 71 and 69 for his first two rounds to finish tied for eighth place on Tuesday. McClain posted five birdie and four bogeys in his second round on Tuesday shooting 1-under.

Erik Fogel finished second on the team in the opening round shooting 70 with a second round of 72 in the afternoon to finish tied for 16th place in the standings. Nicolas Escobar finished with a second round of 71 finishing tied for 26th overall. Jack Tharrington finished tied for 34th as well and finished one stroke ahead of Escobar in the second round on Monday. Alex Wells carded a 74 in both rounds on the day to round out the Hurricanes lineup.  

National No. 1 Barry University leads the team effort at 3-under par, five strokes ahead of Clayton State University. AJ Ewart of Barry is atop the leaderboard at 7-under, three strokes ahead of Chris Ayres from West Florida.

The final round gets underway with a shotgun start tomorrow, March 22 at 8:30 a.m.
