The 2022 event may be among the most competitive the PBC has ever had with five teams ranked in the Bushnell/GCAA Top 25 and six in the Golfstat Top 25 Relative Ranking. 24 PBC players are also ranked among the top 100 in the Golfstat player rankings.

The Hurricanes are coming off of a historic season last spring, becoming the first PBC team to compete for a national championship since the match play format was introduced at the NCAA Tournament in 2012. Simon Estrada had played in 23 of GSW's 26 rounds and has three top-10s and one top-five. Nicolas Escobar, Chase McLain and Payne Sells have also captured top-five individual results.
