AUGUSTA, Ga. — Behind five birdies on Saturday, Georgia Southwestern's Nicolas Escobar climbed seven spots in the individual standings to take a share of the lead after two rounds of the Peach Belt Conference Championship at the par-72, 7,086-yard Forest Hills Golf Club. Escobar posted a 68 in Round 2 and enters Sunday's final round at 3-under par. Seventh-ranked GSW moved into second place with a 1-under 287 in Round 2 and sits two strokes out of the lead.
Erik Fogel made the biggest move on the leaderboard for GSW on Saturday, soaring 16 spots behind a 1-under 71. He joins teammate Jack Tharrington in a tie for 17th place at 5-over for the tournament. Payne Sells matched his opening round score of 73 on Day 2 and is tied for ninth place. Chase McLain is in 16th place after dropping eight spots with a 75 on Saturday.
USC Aiken shaved 14 strokes off its Round 1 score and jumped three spots to take control of first place in the nine-team event.
Tharrington will get the final round started for GSW on Sunday with a tee time of 10:10 a.m.
