HARTWELL, Ga. -- The eighth-ranked Georgia Southwestern men's golf team posted a two-round total of 533 to finish 8-under-par on Monday and finish the day in third place at the Cateechee Invitational hosted by Lander University. The 20-team tournament played at the par-71, 6646-yard Cateechee Club features five programs ranked in the Top 25 of NCAA Division II according to the latest Golf Coaches Association of America rankings.
Jack Tharrington led the Hurricanes with a two-round total of 135 to sit in fourth place in the 108-player field heading into Tuesday's final 18 holes.
Marco Trstenjak posted two rounds of 69 to finish the day in the top 10
Erik Fogel posted two rounds of 70, to finish the day 2-under par.
Payne Sells shot two rounds pf 73, to finish the day 5-over.
Miles Gray posted a 71, and 74 and finished the day 4-over par he sits tied in 50th.
No. 6 North Georgia currently leads at 28-under-par and has a 15-stroke lead over second-place Lincoln Memorial.
Play was suspended in the second round.
The final round begins at 9 a.m. Tuesday.
