VALDOSTA, Ga. -- The sixth-ranked Georgia Southwestern men's golf team posted the low round on Tuesday, a 282 (-6), to move up one spot in the standings and finish in second place at the 17-team First Federal Southeastern Collegiate played at the par-72, 7,421-yard Kinderlou Forest Golf Club which featured nine programs ranked in the Top 30 of NCAA Division II according to the latest National Collegiate Golf Rankings. Erik Fogel led the Hurricanes with a 4-under par for the week and finished fourth out of 90 golfers.

Fogel shot the low round of the tournament with a 66 in Round 2 that was bogey free and included six birdies. He finished three strokes behind Michael Hay of Nova Southeastern University for individual medalist honors. Joao Costa shot up the leaderboard on the final day for GSW posting a score of 68. Costa climbed 23 spots in the standings to tie for fifth place as he played a bogey-free round. Mateo Quiroga jumped 16 spots in Round 3 behind a score of 70 and tied for 17th place. Jack Tharrington moved up 15 spots on the final day to tie for 50th and Payne Sells finished tied for 59th, up six slots from Monday.

The defending national champions, No. 15 Nova Southeastern won the event and held off the Hurricanes with a 12-under par, three strokes ahead of GSW. 

The Hurricanes return to the links on Monday for the Bobcat Invitational hosted by Georgia College & State University at The Golf Club at Cuscowilla in Eatonton, Ga.
