Big second half lifts North Georgia past GSW

The Georgia Southwestern men's soccer team lost 3-0 to North Georgia College & State University Saturday afternoon on Senior Day at Hurricane Field.
 
North Georgia broke a 0-0 tie in the 65th minute when Jose Herrera knocked in a deflected ball from 12 yards out. Avram Allen followed five minutes later at the 69:36 mark, sending a shot past Hurricane keeper Michael Smith to extend the Saints' lead to a pair at 2-0.

Terry Gibbs added an insurance goal in the closing minutes, breaking free and sending a shot home from 18 yards out in the 86th minute, securing the road victory in the regular season finale for both teams.

NGCSU outshot GSW 17-5 and held a 7-2 corner kick advantage.

Smith had seven saves for the Hurricanes. Rade Tanaskovic finished with four saves for North Georgia.

GSW seniors Christian Dane and Jonathan Smith were honored at halftime.
 
The Hurricanes (3-14, 1-5 PBC) play at Lander on Tuesday evening in the first round of the Peach Belt Conference Tournament.
