Canes Drop Opener

The Georgia Southwestern men's soccer team dropped a season-opening 3-0 decision to Barry University on Thursday afternoon at Hurricane Field.

Vuk Kojic gave BU an early 1-0 lead when his header found the right corner of the goal off an assist from Mark Anderson in the 8th minute.

The Buccaneers' lead increased to 2-0 at the 22:46 mark when Andres Perez broke through the Hurricane defense and pushed a shot into the right corner past GSW sophomore goalkeeper John Scharnikow.

BU maintained their two goal advantage until the 83rd minute when Ricardo Ramirez scored on a lead pass from Perdo Petris up the middle to complete the scoring on the afternoon.

Scharnikow tallied four saves for GSW. Devala Gorrick stopped one for Barry. GSW was outshot 14-4.

The Hurricanes are back in action on Saturday at 3 p.m. hosting Nova Southeastern.
