GSW loses PBC opener on late goal

Travis Bally scored the lone goal in the 70th minute to lift Francis Marion University to a 1-0 Peach Belt Conference win over Georgia Southwestern, Saturday afternoon in Florence, S.C.

It was the third 1-0 loss of the season for GSW. 

The scoreless first half featured few serious scoring opportunities.

FMU's game-winning sequence began with Cameron Mabee playing the ball wide to Chris Foltanski on the right side.  Foltanski then crossed the ball to Bally who scored from 13 yards out.

Francis Marion (2-5-1, 1-1 PBC) outshot the Hurricanes 18-4, and did not allow GSW a single shot on goal. FMU also led 9-3 in corner kicks.

David Porley finished with six saves between the pipes for GSW.

Southwestern (1-6, 0-1) travels to Lander on Saturday for a 3:30 p.m. match.
