AIKEN, S.C. - Coming off the Georgia Southwestern men's soccer team's mid-week victory at LaGrange College, the Hurricanes were looking to string together back to back wins. The opportunity to do so would pass them by as the Pacers of USC Aiken (3-6-2, 1-2-1 PBC) would walk away with 1-0 victory.

During the first half, defense was at a premium. It was a scoreless half for both teams with the two squads taking a combined seven shots with only one on goal. That came off the foot of Gilmer Medina, which was saved by GSW goalkeeper Cade Jones. GSW shots in the first half came courtesy of freshman Joshua Manga and junior KleesBatner Loembet-Makaya.

The scoreless tie would end ten minutes into the second half. A USC Aiken corner kick by Scott Newby found the head of Brett Van Pelt who would put the ball in near post for the game's first score.

The Blue & Gold would be unable to get the equalizer in the remaining 35 minutes despite taking eight shots. The Hurricanes were on the verge of tying the match in the 63rd minute when freshman Hunter Sams and senior Ross Sellers each fired a shot in the box within thirty seconds of one another, but both would be blocked by the Pacer backline.

The setback puts the Georgia Southwestern record 3-7-1 (0-3-0 PBC). The Hurricanes are back in action for a Wednesday match on the campus of Clayton State at 7:30
