AMERICUS - Georgia Southwestern State University head men's soccer coach Warren Russ has released the program's 2012 schedule that features nine matches at home and eight away from the confines of Hurricane Field.

The Blue & Gold open 2012 on the road with a pair of matches filling a South Carolina swing Aug. 30-Sept. 1. GSW meets Newberry College on Thursday before traveling to North Greenville on Saturday.

The home opener for Coach Russ & Co. comes on Sept. 7 against UNC Pembroke. The UNCP match kicks off a three-game homestand. West Alabama, in its inaugural season of men's soccer, visits on Sept. 9 and Brewton-Parker is in Americus on the 12th.  

On the 15th, the 'Canes square off in their first PBC road match with a contest at Lander. GSW heads up I-75 four days later for a match against another first-year program, Georgia Gwinnett.

Gulf Coast Conference runner up Alabama-Huntsville is in town for a Saturday afternoon tilt on the 22nd before the Hurricanes travel to St. Augustine, Fla. on the 26th to meet defending Peach Belt Conference champion and NCAA Tournament quarterfinalist Flagler College.

The Hurricanes return home for a pair of PBC matches starting with USC Aiken on Sept. 29. A visit from North Georgia opens play in the month October on the 6th.

GSW travels to 2011 PBC Tournament finalist and NCAA tournament representative Montevallo on the 10th before heading to PBC newcomer Young Harris for a match on the 13th.

Clayton State will be GSW's opponent for the PBC home finale on Oct 17. A trip to Francis Marion on the 20th concludes the conference portion of the schedule.

The 'Canes end the regular season with a pair of non-conference home matches. Talladega (Ala.) College and Palm Beach Atlantic meet the 'Canes in first-ever matchups on the 24th and 27th, respectively, with the PBA contest serving as the Senior Day finale.
