GSW Women 0, #8 Tampa 10
TAMPA, Fla. - To say Georgia Southwestern women's soccer freshman goalie Vanna Lucke stayed busy Saturday morning would be an understatement. Lucke played 76 1/2 minutes and made a Peach Belt Conference record 28 saves, but it wasn't nearly enough as the No. 8 University of Tampa Spartans defeated GSW, 10-0.
Lucke crushed the previous conference record of 20 saves in match. She had 17 stops by the halftime break.
GSW trailed 3-0 at the half before Tampa added three quick scores in the first five minutes of the second period and eventually cruised to the 10-0 final.
Tampa (2-0) posted a 13-0 corner kick advantage and did not allow the Lady Hurricanes to get off a shot in the contest.
Southwestern (0-2) returns to action 1 p.m. Saturday at UNC Pembroke.
