MOUNT VERNON - Georgia Southwestern surrendered three unanswered goals, including the game-winner in double overtime, to lose 5-4 at Brewton-Parker College on Wednesday night in men's soccer action.

The Hurricanes have their last two matches and fall to 1-2 overall while Brewton-Parker improves to 3-2.

After BPC opened the scoring with a goal in the 15th minute, GSW answered with three consecutive scores.

Isaac Avila evened the match at 1-1 in the 27th minute with his first goal of the season. Ron Calle gave the Hurricanes the lead four minutes later when he punched in his second goal of the fall and Zack Pirtle made it a two-goal advantage off an assist from Brennan Bauschka in the 37th minute.

The Barons shaved the GSW lead in half when Cristian Jimenez answered the Pirtle score in 73 seconds.

The match remained 3-2 in GSW's favor well into the second half and Jon-Luke Cannada pushed the margin back to two when his header found the back of the net in the 74th minute off an assist from Cesar Espinosa.

BPC once again answered a GSW score quickly. Cole Lynn pulled the Barons within one moments after the Cannada score and David Preciado tied the match at the 83:38 mark.

After a scoreless first overtime in which two shot attempts by Cannada was the only offense provided by both sides, Francisco Moyer gave BPC the game-winner in the 104th minute.

Despite recording the most shots (26) in a match in team history and posting the largest shot differential in almost two years (Sept. 3, 2011), 26-17, Southwestern was unable to hold onto the lead.

Calle tallied six shots to lead the Hurricanes. Cannada took five shots and Avila added four.

GSW goalie Joe Cullip saved three while James Rumbaugh stopped six for BPC.

GSW finished with a commanding 16-7 advantage in corner kicks.

The Hurricanes open Peach Belt Conference play on Saturday afternoon at UNC Pembroke.
