GSW Drops Two At UNC Pembroke

PEMBROKE, N.C. - Kaylee Krohn scored her first goal of the season for the Georgia Southwestern women's soccer team on Saturday afternoon but three unanswered goals by UNC Pembroke gave the host Braves a 4-1 victory.

The Lady Hurricanes fall to 0-3 overall and 0-1 in the Peach Belt Conference while UNCP improves to 3-1 overall and 1-0 in the PBC.

Less than two minutes after UNCP jumped to an early 1-0 lead with a score at the 2:47 mark, Krohn drilled a shot from 25 yards out into the upper-right corner of the net.

UNCP regained the lead in the 13th minute, added another goal before haltime and notched the final score with a late goal in the 73rd minute.

The Lady Hurricanes trailed 7-0 in corner kicks.

Vanna Lucke saved three in goal for GSW in the first half before making way for Elyse Gowan who stopped nine over the final 45 minutes. Britney Bennett made one save for UNCP.

Southwestern returns to Americus for its home opener on Tuesday against Converse College at 4 p.m.

PEMBROKE, N.C. - The Georgia Southwestern men's soccer team trailed 2-0 at the half and surrendered a final score in 52nd minute in a 3-0 loss at No. 24 UNC Pembroke Saturday afternoon.

GSW has lost three in a row and falls to 1-3 overall, 0-1 in the PBC. UNCP improves to 3-1 overall and 1-0 in conference play.

The Braves finished with a 10-1 shots on goal advantage and 10-0 margin in corner kicks.

Joe Cullip saved four in 69 minutes between the pipes for GSW. Ryan Tucker stopped two for the Hurricanes over 21 minutes. Ryan Hanson had one save for UNCP.

Southwestern returns to Americus for its home opener on Wednesday against Concordia (Ala.) at 4 p.m.
