GSW Honored for Sportsmanship

AMERICUS - The Georgia Southwestern men's soccer team was acknowledged by the Peach Belt Conference today as a 2013 Team Sportsmanship Award winners.

The PBC presents one such award for each of its 13 championship sports, as voted on by the other teams in each particular sport.

This is the second straight year that the men's soccer team has garnered the team sportsmanship award since the program's inception in 2008-09.

This continues GSW's strong reputation for sportsmanship as the men's and women's soccer teams won the award last year. GSW has now won nine team sportsmanship awards.

The PBC Sportsmanship Award program presents an award following each championship season to the team in that sport that best exemplifies the spirit of sportsmanship and generally conducts themselves with a high degree of integrity, character and class. Points are awarded based on how each team finished in the voting and in June, the institution with the highest totals will receive the 'PBC Institution of the Year Sportsmanship Award.'

The league's Senior Administrators oversee the program.
