Alderman Scores 2nd Goal Of Season, Cannada Get's 2nd Assist

ST. AUGUSTINE, FL- The Georgia Southwestern men's soccer team suffered their first conference game loss of the season Wednesday night to Flagler College, but not without a fight.

GSW tried to take an early lead with a shot by DJ Garrett that was saved. Flagler gained control of the ball soon after but GSW's goalie Garrett Blamire shot down their offense making three saves in the first thirty minutes.

The Hurricanes turned the ball around and scored the first goal of the match at the 35:11 mark off a rebound. Cesar Espinoza took a corner kick which lead to a shot by Jon-Luke Cannada that was blocked and Avery Alderman shot it into the back of the net for his second goal of the season. DJ Garrett attempted a second shot soon after but this time it went wide.

With three minutes left in the first half Flagler was able to tie the game with a shot that just tucked the ball inside the left post.

Flagler took over the second half early with four shots in seven minutes and finally scored their second goal at the 54:27 mark with a pass from the outside that just made it past the left post. Five minutes later they did it again, this time off a header from a throw in making the score 3-1.

The last thirty minutes of the game proved to be a battle with more fouls and a few yellow cards. Both teams attempted to take control of the game. Although neither team scored again in the end Flagler proved to be more mighty.

GSW was able to get 3 shots on goal and Flagler had 10. Blamire recorded 7 saves while Flaglers goalie only had 2.

The Hurricanes are home this Saturday October 4 at 3:30PM to take on USC Aiken.
