MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Georgia Southwestern men's soccer team played against Faulkner University on Tuesuday night, and sadly lost 2-1, but the lost was not in vain. The Hurricanes fought hard and didn't give up throughout the game.

GSW drops to 0-2-2 this season while Faulkner improved its record to 4-1-1.

The game started off very defensive, until a goal was scored at 56:00 minutes on the clock.

Faulkner took its 1-0 lead after Evens Alcide assisted by Jarom Farnsworth scored the Eagles first goal.

The Canes contiuned to be defensive against the Eagles for the next 18 minutes. Then, the next goal was scored. Kofi Forkuoh scored the second goal for Faulkner with a little help from his team mate Leonardo Saurit off a cross.

That last goal made the Canes put their game faces on and realize they needed to get into this match. With only 14 minutes passing from the second goal from the Eagles, still in the first half of the match, GSW's very own Silvio Polly scored the first goal... unassisted!

This makes the score 2-1 in the first half of the match, with Faulkner ahead.

The Hurricanes take their halftime in consideration, to get ready for the next half against their competiors to try at win the match. 

The Canes attempted to score 6 times and also had 3 saves by goalkeeper, Garrett Blamire, in the second half of the match.

Although the Canes did save a few goals by the other team, they were not able to score in the second half. But they played great defense, because the Faulkner Eagles were also unable to score in the second against the canes. This ended the game with a 2-1 win for the Eagles.

The next match the Canes will play will be at their home, Hurricane Field, against the Lander University Bearcats on September 19 at 3:30pm. This will be a Peach Belt Conferrence match for the Canes.
