AMERICUS - Georgia Southwestern State University head men's soccer coach Warren Russ has released the program's 2016 schedule, which features nine matches at home and six away from the confines of Hurricane Field.

GSW holds a combined 10-9-2 all-time record against the six non-conference opponents on the slate for 2016.

The Blue & Gold open at home against Newberry College on Sept. 1. Newberry won the only previous meeting with GSW, 2-1, in double overtime back in 2012.

Following a trip to Point University (Sept. 7), the Hurricanes return home for matches against Faulkner University (Sept. 10) and Middle Georgia State (Sept.14).

GSW leaves the Peach State for the first time on Sept. 17, with a trip to Concordia College in Selma, Ala., before heading back home for another pair of matches, against Brewton-Parker College (Sept. 20) and USC Aiken (Sept. 24).    

The Hurricanes close out September at Flagler on the 28th.

October offers some home cooking as GSW opens the month with four of its first five matches in Americus. A visit by UNC Pembroke on the 1st is followed by a midweek trip to Montevallo (Oct. 5). The next three contests are at home as the Hurricanes entertain Clayton State (Oct. 12), North Georgia (Oct. 19) and Francis Marion (Oct. 22).

Coach Russ & Co. face consecutive road matches for the first time in 2016 during the final week of the regular season when they travel to 2015 NCAA Tournament qualifier and defending PBC champion Young Harris (Oct. 26) with the finale on the 29th at another 2015 NCAA Tournament qualifier, Lander.
