Polly Earns First Team All-PBC Honors

AMERICUS - Georgia Southwestern State University junior Silvio Polly was named to the 2016 Peach Belt All-Conference First Team announced Thursday evening at the league's annual men's soccer awards banquet in Augusta, Ga.

Polly appeared in all 15 matches this season and started 14 contests for the Hurricanes. He led the team with eight goals and four assists.

The Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, native accounted for 47 percent of the Hurricanes scoring in 2016 and his eight goals ranks seventh in the conference. He finished second in program history for most goals in a season and is the leader in career points.

Polly turned in a pair of two-goal performances this fall. The first came in a 3-2 loss to Brewton-Parker College on Sept. 20. The second propelled GSW to a 3-2 conference win over Clayton State on Oct. 12.

Polly is the fifth Hurricane to receive postseason Peach Belt recognition and the only other player to join teammate Isaac Avila (2014) as a first team selection.
