AMERICUS, Ga. -- The Georgia Southwestern State University men's soccer team has earned the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for the 2016-17 school year, honoring programs across the country with exemplary performance in the classroom.

GSW was one of three Peach Belt Conference schools among the 282 men's collegiate programs honored for posting a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher during the academic year.

The Hurricanes, under head coach Warren Russ, finished with a 3.18 GPA. Georgia Southwestern previously received the award in 2014 and 2016.
