Hurricanes Drop Home Finale 3-1

AMERICUS, Ga. -- The Georgia Southwestern State University men's soccer team surrendered three goals on Saturday night falling to Lander University, 3-1, in a Peach Belt Conference match at Hurricane Field.

The Bearcats scored in the first eight minutes of the match and it was all downhill for the Hurricanes from that point on.

GSW surrendered their second goal of the match nine minutes later that gave the Bearcats the 2-0 lead.

The rest of the first half was a back and forth chess match no goals were scored the Bearcats carried the lead and the momentum at the end of the half.

Just when it could not get any worse for the Hurricanes a third Bearcat goal destroyed any momentum GSW had left.

Andres Melendez scored his second goal of the season which avoided a Hurricanes shutout.

GSW will close out the regular season with a road trip to 16th-ranked Clayton State at 3 p.m. on Saturday from Laker Field.
