The Georgia Southwestern State University tennis teams completed a busy weekend of action with both the men's and women's squads winning one of three matches over a three-day window. Both the men and women defeated Fort Valley State on Friday, 9-0, before suffering 9-0 setbacks at Georgia College on Saturday and against nationally-ranked Columbus State on Sunday.
The GSW men's team exits the weekend with a 3-8 overall record and a 0-4 mark in Peach Belt Conference action. The women's team stands at 6-9 overall, 0-4 in the PBC.
Up Next: The Lady Hurricanes travel to West Georgia on Saturday for a 1 p.m. match before joining the men for at Fort Valley State on March 17.
GSW MEN 9, FORT VALLEY STATE 0
The Hurricanes did not lose a game against FVSU. All three doubles matches were won by 8-0 scores and all singles matches favored GSW, 6-0, 6-0.
FVSU dropped to 1-4 this spring.
GSW WOMEN 9, FORT VALLEY STATE 0
The Lady Hurricanes dropped a total of six games across doubles and singles play. Anneliese Leahy did not lose a game against FVSU, teaming with Ashley Denby for an 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles before cruising to a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles.
FVSU fell to 2-4 this spring.
GSW MEN 0, GEORGIA COLLEGE 9
Luke Eafano and Justin Ralson had the closest match score in doubles, falling 8-4 at No. 3. Ralston played the closest singles match as well, losing 6-4, 6-3 at No. 6. Eafano dropped the first set at No. 5 singles, 6-0, but closed the gap in the second set before losing, 6-4.
Georgia College, No. 5 in the Southeast Region in the latest Oracle/ITA NCAA Division II rankings, improved its record to 4-1 overall, 3-0 in the PBC.
GSW WOMEN 0, GEORGIA COLLEGE 9
Celia del Castillo and Maria Taboada had the closest match score in doubles, falling 8-3 at No. 1. Taboada played the closest singles match as well, losing 6-3, 6-4 at No. 2. Del Castillo dropped the first set at No. 1 singles, 6-0, but won a pair of games in the second set before losing, 6-2, to the 33rd-ranked player in NCAA Division II, Jena Kelly.

Luke Eafano teamed with Beau Millwood for the ninth time this spring and won four games against the 24th-ranked doubles team of Zach Whaanga and Matei Avram at No. 2.
Steven Blythe lost to the No. 1 player in NCAA Division II, K.P. Pannu, 6-0, 6-2.
Columbus State, No. 4 in the country in the latest Oracle/ITA NCAA Division II rankings, improved its record to 7-2 overall, 3-0 in the PBC.

The Lady Hurricanes managed to win a total of seven games against the third-ranked Cougars.
Del Castillo lost to the No. 3 player in the latest Oracle/ITA NCAA Division II rankings, Beatriz Lopez, 6-0, 6-1.
