GSW Top 10 Moments Of 2014-15: #4

AMERICUS, Ga. - Coming in at No. 4 for the 2014-15 Top 10 Moments in Georgia Southwestern sports is senior Keri Tompkins from the Georgia Southwestern softball team.

Tompkins tied the GSW softball record for most home runs in one season of 12 when she hit a three-run home run during an international tie-breaker against Brewton-Parker to win the game.

With only two double headers left in her GSW softball career the pressure was on for Tompkins to hit one more homer to break the record.

In her first at bat against Albany State there were two outs and one on base. Tompkins came out swinging and knocked one out of the park to take the record and the lead in the game.

Tompkins was walked her second time at bat but the next time she went up to the plate she wasn't going to take any chances. She swung until she hit her 14th home run of the season and broke her own record she set two at-bats ago.

Tompkins finished her senior season with 48 hits, 22 runs, 38 RBIs and a .329 batting average. Her overall two-year GSW career recorded 85 hits, 39 runs, 19 homers, 62 RBIs and a .305 average.
