AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Georgia Southwestern softball players Katelyn Wood and Allyson Murdock were named to the 2021 Peach Belt Preseason All-Conference Team, released Wednesday by the league. 

The Lady Hurricanes tabbed 54 points as they were picked to finish sixth in the conference. 

Wood is a third-year sophomore from Crawfordville, Fla., who plays third baseman for GSW. During the shortened 2020 season, she was hitting .348 with four doubles, six home runs and 25 RBIs. Wood was tied for second in the league in home runs, third in RBIs and was fifth with a .682 slugging percentage. She had five multi-hit games and seven games with more than one RBI.

Murdock is a third-year sophomore from Debary, Fla., who plays in the outfield. She had a .667 slugging percentage with five doubles, three triples and 12 RBIs. She was ranked second in the PBC with a .474 batting average in 2020 and was third in the league in triples. Murdock also led the conference and ranked 15th in NCAA Division II with 19 stolen bases in 21 attempts.

GSW will open their 2021 season Feb. 5-6 competing in the Flagler Invitational in St. Augustine, Fla. The PBC Tournament will be held on May 4 and May 8 with a different format.

The preseason coaches poll is below along with the preseason All-Conference team. Each was selected by the league's head coaches who were not permitted to rank their own teams in the poll or vote for their own players for the All-Conference team.
