Lady Canes Shutout Bobcats in Series Sweep

AMERICUS, Ga. -- The Georgia Southwestern softball team decisively swept the Georgia College Bobcats in their three-game series at Lady Hurricane Field. The Lady Canes did not allow a run all series long and finished the last two games in just five innings each. The GSW pitching was a key component in each win, in game one, the Bobcats managed three hits off Trinity Whitfield (4-3) who picked up the shutout. In game two, GSW starter Hannah Holloway (9-2) threw a no-hitter, allowing just a single walk and one GSW error over the five innings, shortened by run-rule. The Bobcats managed just three hits off GSW starter Regan Lee (3-2) in the third and final game of the series. Katelyn Wood had a pair of home runs for the Hurricanes in the third game hitting a first inning grand slam and bringing the Lady Canes within striking distance of the run-rule finish with a three-run shot in the fifth inning. Lacey Rutledge finished the game with a walk-off hit to the center field wall that brought in the eighth run needed to end the contest.
