Hurricanes Sweep the Grizzly Classic

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- Georgia Southwestern softball comes from behind to defeat the College Of Coastal Georgia in the first game of the Grizzly Classic Saturday afternoon.

Game 1 W, 8-7 Coastal Georgia

Zoe Willis hit a home run in the first inning. The Hurricanes got into trouble in the inning as they gave up 5 runs three hits and committed an error. 

The Hurricanes cut into the deficit as Isabel Marcotte hit a 2-run home run in the third inning. 

GSW would score two runs in the top of the sixth inning as Katelyn Wood hit a home run, and Morgan Mullin would later sac bunt to score a run. 

The Hurricanes tied the game in the seventh inning on a Katelyn Wood sac bunt that scored a runner, and an RBI single from Isabel Marcotte.

The Hurricanes would get the lead in the eighth inning when Lacey Rutledge hit an RBI single that won the game for the Canes.

Game 2  W, 9-5 Georgia Gwinett College

Georgia Southwestern State softball comes from behind to defeat Georgia Gwinett 9-5.

The Hurricanes fell behind in the first inning giving up two runs as starting pitcher Savana Bradford would not return for the rest of the game.

Zoe Willis had a good game pitching in relief going six innings and striking out eight.

GSW was trailing until a strong fourth inning as the Hurricanes would score eight runs and record eight hits that would eventually close out the game for the Hurricanes. 

The Hurricanes will come home for the first time this season as they take on the University of Montevallo (5-5) for the second time this season in a doubleheader at the Lady Canes Softball Field first pitch at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday
