Canes Split Day Two of the Leadoff Classic

COLUMBUS, Ga. -- Georgia Southwestern softball loses for the first time in 10 consecutive games as they were defeated 6-5 by California University (PA) in the first game of day two of the Leadoff Classic

Game 1 L, 6-5

Ansley Duffey had a great performance behind the plate going 3-for-3 with two doubles a walk and a run scored Zoe Willis also had a good game walking three times and pitched four innings allowed one run and struck out two batters.

Late in the game, the Canes were on a verge of a comeback but it was too little too late as they were defeated.

Game 2  W, 3-2 Georgia Southwestern softball got back in the win column as they defeated Gannon University 3-2 in the second game of the leadoff classic.

Lacey Rutlege had a strong performance getting two hits in three at bats. Rutlege was one of two Hurricanes who recorded multiple hits the other was Ashlyn Rogers who went two for three and doubled. 

Savana Bradford remains undefeated as she earned her fifth win pitching 7.1 innings allowed two runs and struck out 13 batters.

GSW will stay in Columbus to conclude the Leadoff classic as they take on Hillsdale College 9:00 a.m. Sunday
