ROME, Ga. -- Georgia Southwestern softball completes the mid-week sweep of Shorter University at Alto Park Tuesday afternoon.

Game 1 W, 2-0

There was not much scoring until the top of the fourth inning when Lacey Rutledge hit her first home run of the season which gave  GSW a 1-0 lead. She was the only Canes player to record multiple hits.

Isabel Marcotte hit a home run in the seventh inning that put the game away for the Canes who win despite only grabbing four hits.

Zoe Willis grabbed her eighth win of the season she tossed six innings gave up two hits and struck out three batters to improve to (8-2) on the season.

Game 2 W, 10-1

Georgia Southwestern State softball scored 1o runs and collected 12 hits in game two of the doubleheader. 

The game was scoreless until the top of the third inning when the Canes started slugging on a Zoe Willis three-run homerun and GSW scored four runs in the inning Willis had two home runs in the game.

Marcotte hit two home runs in the game and had three for the day grabbing four RBIs on the day. 

Hannah Holloway gets her third win of the season pitched three and one-third innings gave up one run six hits and struck out three batters.

The Hurricanes will be traveling to Dahlonega, Ga. to face off against PBC rival North Georgia (27-1, 9-0) n a weekend doubleheader at the Haines and Carolyn Hill Stadium 12:00 p.m. on Saturday
