It Takes Two to Make a Thing Go Right

AMERICUS, Ga.-- Georgia Southwestern softball takes the first two games of the series defeating Young Harris College.

Game 1 W, 3-2

The first three innings of the game was a pitchers' duel the game was tied 0-0. Young Harris drew first blood scoring on a rbi single giving the Mountain Lions a 1-0 lead.

GSW scored two runs on three hits to take the lead 2-1 in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Young Harris tied the game in the top of the sixth inning on a sacrifice play to score the baserunner this gave Young Harris the momentum heading into the bottom of the sixth.

Hailey Pinette bunted in the bottom of the sixth to score the runner for the Canes put them back on top and GSW would close out the game 3-2.

Four Hurricanes recorded multiple hits GSW recorded 10 hits for the game Jacie Johns had a solid performance going 2-for3 and a rbi. 

Savanna Bradford earned her 10th win of the season she tossed seven innings giving up four hits and two runs.

Game 2 W, 11-3

Much like the first game Young Harris scored first they recorded two runs on three hits and led the Canes 2-0 in the top of the first inning.

The Canes retaliated scoring three runs on five hits one of which was a Zoe Willis two-run home run at the end of the first inning the Canes led 3-2.

In the fourth inning, GSW added to their lead Katelyn Wood hit a two-run home run to extend the Canes lead to 5-2. Young Harris answered back in the top of the next inning with a home run of their own to cut the Canes lead by two.

Young Harris would not score the rest fo the game the Canes added six more runs as the bats came alive in the later innings GSW would eventually win 11-3. 

Zoe Willis got into trouble early but as per usual was able to pitch her way out of trouble she earned her 11th win of the season improving her record to 11-2 she pitched the complete five innings while striking out four batters.

The Canes will stay home to conclude the three-game weekend series with Young Harris first pitch 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Lady Canes Softball Field.
