Sharks Speared in Sweep by the Canes

AMERICUS, Ga. -- Georgia Southwestern softball swept the three-game weekend series defeating USC Beaufort 8-2 Saturday evening

There was no scoring in the first three innings than in the bottom of the fourth the Canes scored five runs. GSW got the scoring started on a single from Hailey Pinette from there the floodgates opened for the Canes Lacey Rutledge hit a three run double the Canes scored five runs on four hits in the fifth inning.

USC Beaufort cut the deficit in the top of the 6th inning after an rbi double the Hurricanes lead was cut down to 5-2 with the Sand Sharks having momentum. In the bottom half of the inning, the Canes scored three runs on home runs from Zoe Willis, and Izzy Marcotte that gave the Canes the 8-2 lead and GSW closed the game with the 8-2 victory.

Savanna Bradford earned her lucky 13th win after pitching in consecutive days she tossed a complete seven innings giving up three hits and no earned runs, and struck out nine batters Bradford improves to 13-3 on the season. 

The Lady Hurricanes will start a two-week road trip Tuesday afternoon as they take on Valdosta State (28-5, 16-2 )in a midweek doubleheader 4:00 p.m.
